Peckham Park Road Baptist Church
Led by Rev. Ann Luther, our vibrant community church is located in the heart of Peckham and is a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain. We are a lively, welcoming congregation with activities throughout the week.
The Church is surrounded by over 2,000 homes with a very diverse population and the whole neighbourhood is undergoing gentrification and development. Such processes cover a lot of poverty, loneliness and isolation which mess people’s lives up. Ultimately it is only Jesus who can transform life from the inside out and Church is here to both experience and to facilitate such change.

Our History
Peckham Park Road Baptist Church was founded in 1861 by a group of Christians who were worshipping in a room in a house on the street next to Peckham Park Road. They stepped out in faith to invest in buying premises and despite Hitler’s best efforts the Church building still stands today. It is well used as a community hub but the heart of Church life will always be our regular prayer and worship and Word-
based activity. God is the source of Church life and we live out of His Fullness.
Churches Together in Peckham
A number of Churches enjoy close relationships in Peckham, realising that there needs to be unity among God’s People. Church leaders meet fortnightly for sharing and praying together. We hold a united Good Friday gathering in Peckham Square together.
Last year we held our 1st Church in the Park event, which involved running a Community Fun Day in Peckham Rye Park. It drew about 350 people and a good time was had by all. Planning is in place for a similar event on Sunday 6th July 2025.
We are also in discussion with 2 other Baptist fellowships about a possible amalgamation. Numbers in membership have declined and coming together would enable assets to be kept for ongoing ministry in Peckham and Camberwell.
Life Of The World
Life of the World is another church that operates within Peckham Park Road Baptist Church. We value our partnership with them, collaborating on various projects and services, including the annual Watchnight Service.
